Get the Support You Need from the Advanced Maternal Age Project

A Resource by Moms for Moms

Do you sometimes feel that no one truly understands your desire to become pregnant at age 35 or 40? Do you worry that others are silently judging or criticizing your decision to wait until later in life, or questioning your ability to be a great mom to your new family? Here at Midwest Reproductive, we know full well that the journey you’re undertaking is more than a matter of tests and procedures. That’s why we’re so happy to tell our patients about the Advanced Maternal Age Project.

A Wealth of Online Sharing and Education

The Advanced Maternal Age Project was started by a woman who needed just such a service in her own life. Sharon Munroe founded the non-profit organization after having her first baby at the age of 40. She found that she got the most support, caring and help from a close-knit, compassionate community of people who truly understood what challenges she faced day after day — so she set out to create that community for others via the power of the Internet. The resulting organization serves not only moms and aspiring moms aged 35 and older but also younger women who may be choosing to delay pregnancy. The site includes:

  •  News updates about the project’s latest endeavors and media coverage
  •  A quick way to search for information by category from the site’s large collection of articles and other data sources
  •  An ever-growing archive of personal stories related by older moms
  •  A list of recommended links to helpful sites and online communities for both moms and dads
  •  A section devoted to postpartum advice and support
  •  Reviews of recommended books on pregnancy and parenthood

Peruse the site for yourself — and then contact us to let us know what you think of it!
