Kim Cornwell, APRN

Your nurse is an experienced women’s health provider and she’s experienced at dealing with infertility, too

Kim Cornwell, APRN, a Kansas City native, always knew she wanted to work in women’s healthcare. She majored in nursing at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri and pursued her Master’s degree in Nursing at the University of Kansas. She earned her certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner with an emphasis in women’s health.

Kim has more than 12 years of experience in a clinical setting (at a family practice offering OB services); academic environment (teaching nursing students as a Jewell College professor); and in obstetrics (at a birthing center). Kim says she transitioned to fertility because it combined her passion for women’s healthcare and something that affected her own life–infertility.

Kim Cornwell offers knowledgeable and empathetic infertility care

“I have experienced recurrent miscarriage, and have friends who also know what it’s like dealing with infertility after starting families later in life,” she said. “I have always had an interest in fertility, and this specialty is a good fit for me.”

Kim joined MRC nearly two years ago and she says she is amazed at how the field of infertility is constantly changing for the better. “Today there are more and more options that make the process more patient-centered. We can cater to MRC patients as individuals with more choices, instead of a one-size-fits-all treatment regimen.”

What’s Kim’s favorite part about her job as a nurse practitioner at MRC?

“I am able to give people hope and connect with them on a personal level to help give them a chance to have a family. I really love that I get to do this every day!”

When she is not seeing patients currently dealing with infertility and working toward their happy ending, Kim enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband overcame infertility and recurrent miscarriage to build their family—one boy, one girl and one on the way! When she is not pregnant, you can find Kim running, cycling and competing in triathlons in Kansas City and beyond.
